On November 23rd, the GGLB 2023 Award Ceremony with the theme of "China's Power Breaking Waves and Sailing Away" was held in Shenzhen, and EVE Energy was honored with the "2023 Enterprise of the Year Award".
On November 21st, during the 2023 GGLB Annual Conference, the "2023 China Large Cylindrical Li-ion Battery Industry Development Blueprint", co-edited by EVE Energy, was officially released at the Large Cylindrical Battery Industrialization Technology Salon of the 2023 GGLB Annual Conference, and Dr. David, Director of EVE Energy Power Battery Research Institute, was invited to witness the event.
In the roundtable dialogue, Dr. David explained the reasons for developing large cylindrical batteries when prismatic and pouch cells are available. He believes that there is a difference in perspective between looking at the technology from the operation perspective and the market perspective and looking at the technology from the technology itself. From the technology perspective, the battery is divided into three levels of innovation, which are chemical system innovation, structural innovation and application innovation.
Although the current lithium battery market structure is mainly prismatic shape, but from the chemical system innovation point of view, part of the problem in the prismatic structure has not been solved, and chemical system innovation and forward progress. Cylindrical batteries, is undoubtedly the ideal application of such more advanced chemical material system carrier, from 18650 batteries to 21700 batteries, and then to the current 46 series of large cylindrical batteries can be verified. This year, EVE Energy's large cylindrical batteries have completed mass production and have been well used in the market.
From the perspective of structural innovation, the current prismatic LFP battery from the original 300, 400 kilometers to 500, 600 kilometers, and even next year will be 700 kilometers. But even if the prismatic LFP battery has a long range of 700 kilometers, there are still two problems that have not been solved, one is the problem of low temperature, and the other is that there is no standard size. Large cylindrical structure + NCM materials is the perfect chemical system innovation + structural innovation practice, the standard size is also the reason to support the large cylindrical battery innovation from the structure.
At the level of application innovation, the Pack solution of large cylindrical batteries is more flexible, in addition to the direction of automotive, the future will also be used in light-duty power, household energy storage, robotics, etc., which will bring more possibilities and imagination to all kinds of application scenarios of electrification.
